CONGO AFRICAN GREY/ RED FACTOR

Congo African Grey parrots are probably the most well-known bird in the entire pet industry. They are entirely grey, with the exception of their brilliantly red tails. Most individuals will maintain a bare patch of skin near their eyes, which will remain white. Unlike the Timneh African Greys, which have two-toned beaks, the beak of a Congo is entirely black. We sell our babies weaned (eating on their own) and well socialized.Average Lifespan: 40 - 60 years.Sexing these birds requires a DNA test, as they are not sexually dimorphic (you cannot tell the sex just by looking at them).Origin: Africa (Specifically, parts of the Ivory Coast, Kenya, Cameroon and Tanzania).Congo African Greys are not overly loud birds. They can get a little noisy when they are involved in a rough-and-tumble game, but otherwise they are pretty quiet. In general, the rule is that they will be quiet birds if they are raised in a quiet household. Congo African Greys are excellent talkers and will often learn to mimic sounds before moving on to words and phrases. They commonly sound like their caretaker, copying male or female voices and inflections. They are infamous for their talking ability and will continue learning throughout their lifetime, though there is no guarantee that each and every bird will talk. A few individuals, for whatever reason, choose not to.

Blue and gold, Blue throated,Greenwing,Harlequin,Hyacinth,Scarlet Macaws

The macaw is one of the largest species of parrot in the world, with the average adult macaw growing to more than a meter in height. The macaw is well known for it's array of brightly colored feathers which are often many different colors including blue, red, yellow and green. Macaws have recently become very popular as pets, and there is a  flourishing black market for some of the rarer breeds of macaw. This only contributes to their endangered status. Please, do not buy imported macaws. The declining macaw populations is also due to the fact that the macaw's natural rainforest habitat is being destroyed due to deforestation, which is happening all over Central and South America at an alarming rate. The macaw has a large and powerful beak which means that the macaw can break the shells of nuts and seeds more easily. Like other species of parrot, macaws have four toes on each foot, with two toes facing forward and two toes facing backward. This foot adaptation helps the macaw to grip onto prey and tree branches  more easily and allows the macaw to perch in the trees without slipping off. Macaws are known to be intelligent and very sociable birds and macaws can often be seen together in large flocks of up to 30 macaw individuals. Macaws communicate between one another using loud vocal calls such as squawking and screaming. Some species of macaw are even known to be able to mimic (copy) human sounds.

Umbrella,Solomon,Sulphur Crested and Moluccan Cockatoos

Umbrella Cockatoos are entirely white at first glance. However, if you startle or excite one, you will see the feathers of its crest pop up, forming a type of “headdress”  resembling an umbrella. This is where their name comes from. Under their “umbrella,”  the feathers are bright yellow. The underside of their wings and tail is also yellow. They  have a bare patch of skin around their eyes which is blue in color. This patch of skin can sometimes help determine an Umbrella’s age since, like humans, this area tends to wrinkle as the birds get older.Moluccan Cockatoos are entirely pink at first glance. However, if you startle or excite one, you will see the feathers of its crest pop up, forming a type of “headdress.” Under this “headdress,” the feathers are bright orange  and salmon colored. The underside of their wings and tail is yellow, and when all of their feathers go up at once (which is common for this species) you will get quite a  fantastic display of color! They have a bare patch of skin around their eyes which is blue in color. This patch of skin can sometimes help determine a Moluccan’s age since, like humans, this area tends to wrinkle as the birds get older.

Conures and Cockatiel Parrots

The conure parrot is a remarkable bird. They are popular because of their beauty, as  well as their intelligence. They are often full of playful antics and they enjoy sharing their play. They are quite peaceful but will readily engage in play with human  companions, other birds, and sometimes even other pets. Besides being very social and quite active, conures are easily tamed. These little parrots love to learn tricks. Most  conures can learn a few words though their voices are high pitched. Consequently what they are saying is often unclear. They are hardy birds that rarely get sick. Both male  conures and female conures make equally good pets. A conure parrot that is kept singly will tame quickly and will soon learn new tricks. Cockatiels, sometimes simply known as 'tiels', have so many positive traits as a pet, it is hard to know which characteristics are the most important. They are low cost, hardy, clean, intelligent, gentle, inquisitive, playful, quiet, adaptable, undemanding, easily trained, easily bred, and the list goes on! They can often learn to talk, especially the males, and can easily be taught all kinds of tricks.
